A LOOK AT JOHN J.
I take the lead on driving revenue and find a path to profitability
If you are viewing my bio then we likely crossed paths personally or professionally. To better understand me, please read on or call me to talk. I help organizations navigate complex situations. If done correctly, we will improve operational and financial outcomes. I take executive leadership roles at early stage startups and fortune 500 companies and help them drive revenue and create efficient and replicable sales processes.
Outside of my day-to-day excitement of fueling rocketships, my passions include working with schools and nonprofit community organizations that strive to improve the lives of the underserved. I have been afforded the opportunity to work with challenged kids and vulnerable adults. That experience has given me more than I could ever have imagined.
All the best,
John
WHAT MAKES THE MAN?
My Story
My story starts in East Boston (Eastie), a low-income neighborhood that has long provided a foothold for the latest immigrants. I was born to an unwed teenage mother who spoke English as a second language. I was raised by my paternal grandparents in a multicultural home. Through hard work, faith, and divine intervention I was able to blaze a path that has afforded me family, fortune, and fulfillment.
I bounced between public and parochial schools throughout my early years. Through academic achievement and the guidance of school counselors, I became the first person in my family to complete high school and gain admission to Northeastern University’s D’Amore Mckim School of Business and it’s a prestigious cooperative education program. I met my future wife Leanne on the first day of school and proclaimed that day that I would marry her. The university secured me internships at investment firms, technology startups, and healthcare companies. That professional experience catapulted my career path in healthcare to include pharmaceutical, medical device, education, and digital health. In addition to my professional working experience, I completed post-graduate education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Medical Device Management, Loyola University’s Quinlan School of Business in M&A, The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania's Entrepreneurship Accelerator, and Columbia University for Digital Therapeutics.
The combination of work experience and ongoing education positioned me to assume high-level positions at large publicly traded global organizations and agile startups. My teams have advanced products from concept to commercialization, built new markets, achieved lucrative exits, and navigate stressful winddowns. I defied the disadvantageous odds of socio-economic disparities and went on to become the President of a healthcare education technology company founded within Massachusetts General Hospital. There, I lead a staff of physicians, educators, and professors from Harvard University.
Now, I take leadership roles at early stage organizations or divisions within larger organizations and drive growth. My network is vast and I know how to use it, I give without the expectation of return, deliver honest and accurate information, and lead with respect and diplomacy.
I believe in work-life harmony, work feeds us and drives me. But, my “why” is my wife Leanne, our three children (Bella, Gemma, and Kosta), and our blue Italian Greyhound (Agrippina, RIP). Like most of us, I am simultaneously an executive, father, husband, coach, advocate, and an active member of our community. When I am not flying to and fro Logan airport, ubering around Boston and Cambridge, or pitching investors; I can be found on the sidelines watching my children or wishfully at yoga with Leanne followed by espresso.
All the best,
John
